After the death of his father Kabir Ahmed, being the elder son of Mohammed Shahjahan had to take over the responsibility though he was just a college student with no idea about business. He had to struggle a lot as he was turned down by one after another bank for a loan as his credentials as a young man did not qualify for that.
He never gave up and continued his efforts and eventually managed to finance importing a scrap ship in 1991. He didn’t stop believing in himself or his family’s business. His determination showed that even when things are hard, staying strong and not giving up can turn tough times into chances to succeed. Mohammed Shahjahan’s story is a reminder that with a strong spirit and refusal to quit, anyone can turn problems into opportunities.
KSRM History
KSRM, founded by the late Mr. Kabir Ahmed in 1984, initially ventured into the ship-breaking industry, supplying raw materials for steel production to various stakeholders within the country. This establishment remains a foundational aspect of the group’s operations to this day.
The first manual mill of Kabir Steel Limited (Unit-1) commenced operations in 1986 at Kalurghat Chittagong. Functioning primarily with materials sourced from the company’s ship-breaking yard, this mill manufactures Rebar and flat bars. Its annual production capacity stands at S000 MI, renowned for the superior quality of its output, revered across the nation.
Following the burgeoning demand for Rebar, Kabir Steel Limited (Unit-2) was established in Madambibirhat, Chittagong in 1992. The facility comprises four factory shades housing four rolling units and operates with an independent power plant to ensure uninterrupted production. The machinery utilized in this mill predominantly originates from Chinese and Indian manufacturers.
The Board of Directors of KSRM is composed of esteemed individuals such as Mr. Mohammed Shahjahan, the Managing Director, Mrs. Rokeya Begum, the Chairman and Mr. Nabab Siraj-Ud-Dawlla, Mr. Mohammad Jamal Uddin, Mr. Mohammed Salim Uddin, Mr. Mohammed Karim Uddin, Mr. Sarwar Jahan and Mr. Shahriar Jahan are the Deputy Managing Director of KSRM Group.
